The directors at Semana Internacional de Cine (Seminci) in Valladolid, Spain chose this painting as their poster for the 51st Annual Valladolid International Film Festival, October 2006. From the article: "The Seminci program preview ended with the announcement of the selection of the official poster, which for many years has featured the work of contemporary recognized artists of distinction. This year, perhaps in reaction to public criticism of last year’s poster, the organization has chosen a more traditional painting by Karen Mazzarella, “Osio Cinema”. The chosen image, found through an Internet search, according to the Valladolid Director, Juan Carlos Frugone, depicts the entrance of a small theater “Osio Cinema”. The billboard features a wide variety of films such as “Fahrenheit 9/11”, “Cinema Paradiso”, and “Flesh Gordon”, among other titles. “The painting conveys much of love, much of cinema, and much of the love of cinema.” Other internationally-renowned artists’ works have been the official poster of the Film Festival over the years, to include: Edward Hopper, “New York Movie” 1939; William Roberts, “The Cinema” 1920; Jack Vettriano, “An Imperfect Past”; George Segal, “Cinema” 1963. To see archives of the posters, click http://www.seminci.es/Seminci/Ediciones.asp?menup=80. Or click “archivos”, then “carteles”.
